Flower Garland Workshop - Sunday 14th June 10.30-4.30pm
Flower Garland Workshop - Sunday 14th June 10.30-4.30pm
Spend a creative day in the studio learning how to wet felt beautiful flower heads to create your own perpetual floral decoration.
You’ll start by rolling a long felt cord on which to display your blossoms. You’ll also create tendrils and leaves to add sculptural greenery to your display.
You’ll then start creating your flowers by laying fibres, combining colours and manipulating the wool to create petal shapes. Once you’ve laid out the fibres for all of your flower heads you’ll use soapy water and your own flower power to felt them into a shaped floral form. You will also have the option of rolling spiked stamens for additional features.
Maybe you’ll immortalise your favourite blooms, or perhaps create out of this world botanical specimens?
Once the flowers have been dried off you’ll connect them, along with the leaves and tendrils, to your felted cord. Depending on time and patience levels you can choose to needle felt, stitch or hot glue your garland.
Please note there is a shorter option of this workshop if you can’t commit a whole day to felting, running on Thursday 9th July (10-1.30) where you’ll be provided with a shorter pre felted cord and leaves but will spend the workshop creating your own flower blossoms.
All materials, a light lunch and delicious snacks are included. This workshop will run with a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 participants.
Workshops will be held in my fabulous new studio at •Nook• Gallery & Studios at 25 Institute Road in Kings Heath, Birmingham B14 7EG.
