Podtastic workshop day! - Sunday 13th September 10.30am-5pm
Bring your felting muscles for a day of wet felting vessels and hanging pods! You’ll start the day being introduced to the process of laying wool fibres around a flat resist. You might choose to create a white textured vessel to display a battery light, a colourful pebble to display a small potted plant, or maybe you’ll keep your vessel slouchy to use as a small organic storage pod.
In the afternoon you’ll learn how to roll a cord to integrate with a resist to craft a hanging pod. Again, the choice of style is yours - perhaps you’ll create a teardrop shaped pod to display small treasures, or a spherical pod to house a trailing air plant.
This day will move at quite a pace, so some experience of wet felting is essential. You’ll enjoy the day more if you’re familiar with the felting process. This is ideal for anyone wishing to progress their felting knowledge to create 3-dimensional pieces.
If you’re a particularly fast worker you may be able to create more than 2 pods or vessels.
All materials are provided, but please bring a couple of old towels and a bag to transport your damp felt home.
Refreshments, a light lunch and plenty of drinks will be available to fuel you through the workshop! Workshops will be taught with a maximum of 6 and minimum of 3 participants.
Workshops will be held in my fabulous new studio at •Nook• Gallery & Studios at 25 Institute Road in Kings Heath, Birmingham B14 7EG. We’re a minute’s walk from the High Street in this busy Birmingham suburb that features lots of independent retailers and cafes. There are 2 car parks on Institute Road, or free parking on the side roads that surround •Nook•.
